Trey Vincent vs. KaGe (World Title Match)
Menace 9
Jan 12, 2004
Writer: Leary
The lights in the arena turned dark as the opening riff of 'Enter Sandman' by Metallica echoed throughout the arena, sending the crowd into cheers. As the drums pounded, strobe lights flashed, and the crowd waited for a few more moments before the WWC Television Champion emerged from the back.
KaGe.
Standing at 6-7 and weighing 270 pounds, he would have the size and weight advantage in what could no doubt be one of the biggest matches of his career — challenging for the WWC World Title. KaGe proudly displayed the Television Title around his waist as he walked the aisle. This was a man who last week earned his title. And tonight, he was looking to earn another and become the first WWC double champion.
But to get to the top of the mountain, he would have to knock off the champion. KaGe’s theme song volume was drowned out by the opening beat of 'Pussy Liquor' by Rob Zombie. Green and white lights flashed at the entryway as golden spotlights trained in on the entrance.
Trey Vincent, your WWC World Champion, had arrived.
The Sports Entertainment Icon emerged from the back, arms out wide, forming a 'T' before he raised his arms up into a 'V' position. His grin seemed cockier than ever — but I guess having the top belt in the promotion will do that to you. The 6-4, 265 pounder strolled down the aisle, eyeing the crowd and mouthing off to the fans who shouted less-than-kind remarks at him.
As Vincent’s theme music died down, he received very loud boos from the crowd, noise that only made him smile wider, take off his belt, raise a middle finger and salute each side of the arena. But Vincent made a mistake in doing this. He turned his back on KaGe.
WHAM!
The bell sounded, and Vincent was already flat on his back from a very stiff punch. The crowd exploded in cheers as KaGe made the quick cover and the referee was down!
ONE!
TWO!
THRE-NO! Vincent JUST got his shoulder up! Karma had almost just come back to bite Vincent square on the ass. KaGe grabbed a handful of Vincent’s hair and dragged the dazed champion to his feet. A solid punch sent Vincent flying backward, falling to his left knee and then losing his balance and crashing to the mat. Just seconds into the match and fearing his title was already slipping away, Vincent quickly grabbed the bottom rope and hung on with all his might.
KaGe tried to pry Vincent loose, but the referee started a count on him. Reluctantly, KaGe backed away as the crowd rained down boos on the WWC Champion. Vincent, feeling his ploy was successful, headed to the floor, looking for more time to get his wits back.
From the floor, Vincent stared at KaGe. The cockiness had been temporarily taken away from Vincent, and he didn’t like that one bit. And now the crowd was just pissing him off. He turned his head and eyed various members of the crowd, but didn’t even bother responding to them. At first. Then he suddenly spun around and got in the face of a regular dude in the front row holding a plastic cup of beer and sporting a Sylo T-shirt.
'why don’t you just shut your fucking mouth!' Vincent roared at the fan, grabbing the beer and starting to drink it down. He suddenly stopped, swished it in his mouth, and then spit it out Tajiri-like into the fan’s face. 'Light beer? YOU MOTHERFUCKER!'
KaGe got impatient waiting and headed to the floor. He charged toward Vincent and blindsided him with a clothesline to the side of his head. Vincent was able to stay on his feet, but only with help from the guardrail. KaGe kicked Vincent in the gut and then rammed his face into the steel guardrail as the fan who had been spit on cheered KaGe.
Vincent stumbled away, but KaGe followed and tossed Vincent over the guardrail into the crowd. KaGe hopped the rail and followed after Vincent, smashing several punches into Vincent’s skull. The crowd rushed toward the fight, patting both wrestlers on the backs as they brawled by, deeper into the crowd. Vincent roared back, rocking KaGe with several punches, before scooping KaGe up and slamming him on the floor.
Never missing an opportunity to hot dog, Vincent ordered some fans out of the way and stood atop two chairs, raising his arms high in the air in triumph. When KaGe stirred, Vincent jumped off, smashing down a double axe handle to KaGe, and both men fell to the floor. Now in control, Vincent started to drag KaGe up to his feet, but then when KaGe was in a sitting position, Vincent drilled a knee right into his face, sending him back to the floor.
Vincent scooped up a chair from one of the fans. The referee had finally given up threatening a count out in the ring and was hoping to reason with either wrestler to take this match back to the ring. Upon his arrival, he threatened to disqualify Vincent if he used the chair on KaGe.
'Really?' Trey asked. 'Fine!' Vincent knew he’d hang onto the title in a disqualification, so he swung for KaGe’s head, but KaGe ducked and charged forward, hitting a double-leg takedown on Vincent and driving the back of his head into a chair. Not to mention the rest of Vincent’s body hitting the concrete. KaGe didn’t care how much pain Vincent was in though, he grabbed hold of his hair and pulled until Vincent got up — more than willing to take chunks of his hair if Vincent wouldn’t cooperate.
Lucky for Vincent, he did. KaGe dragged Vincent back the way they had come from before charging into a sprint, hopping the guardrail and snapping Vincent’s throat across the steel! The fans popped huge as Vincent gasped for breath at the feet of the fans he despised. The referee checked on Vincent, who was able to slowly drag himself back over the rail.
KaGe tossed Vincent into the ring, ready to dish out some more punishment to the WWC Champion. The fans loved to hate Vincent already and wanted to see his ass get kicked. It was supply and demand. And now, KaGe was about to do some big time supplying.
After pulling Vincent up, KaGe locked Vincent up as if he were about to go for a fisherman suplex. Instead, KaGe turned the move into a brutal twisting neckbreaker. He rolled over and hooked Vincent’s leg.
One!
Two!
Th-shoulder up.
The Red-Eyed Warrior KaGe rained down more punches to Vincent’s head before pulling Vincent up. He grabbed Vincent around the neck, hooked his leg and drove him face-first into the mat with a reverse Russian leg sweep. The fans cheered KaGe on as his domination continued over the champion.
Knowing it was going to take his best moves to finish off Vincent, KaGe didn’t bother with a pin, instead deciding to pull Vincent up to his feet and set him up into powerbomb position. Quickly, Vincent was jacked up and then KaGe connected with the Kage Kutter!
The fans were electric. Vincent hadn’t been in this one from the start, and it was looking like a major wrong was about to be righted. It looked as if the fans were going to get a true champion. The fans all got to their feet as KaGe took position in a corner of the ring, waiting on Vincent to get up.
They knew what was coming. And they wanted to see KaGe hit the Hanging Corpse, his powerful spear finisher. Vincent, slowly sat himself up and pushed himself to his feet. KaGe was waiting to see the whites of Vincent’s eyes before he would charge in and finish off Vincent.
The Sports Entertainment Icon struggled to keep himself balanced for several seconds before he turned around, right toward KaGe who charged!
*SMACK*
'OHHHHH!' the crowd roared.
Vincent delivered a NASTY superkick right to KaGe’s chin as he had charged ahead full speed, stopping him dead in his tracks. For a few seconds, Vincent regained his composure on the ropes. The first thing the camera saw when Vincent raised his head up?
A smile.
Vincent rolled heels over head and rolled to his feet. The fans jeered him for that showboating move. Vincent was ready to take the offense to KaGe now, opening up on him with several stomps to KaGe’s head. Vincent then backed up several steps and charged toward KaGe, who was face-down on the mat, and then leapt over him, hooking his chin with his hands and connecting with a sick looking reverse neck snap, brutally testing KaGe’s neck.
As KaGe grabbed at his neck, Vincent bounced off the ropes and hit a high leg drop to the back of KaGe’s head.
Kip up.
Smile for the booing crowd.
Bounce off the ropes.
Big leg drop again.
Looking to end this thing, Vincent wrenched KaGe up to his knees to put him into position. He hooked KaGe’s arms into an underhook and powered KaGe up just enough to hit his version of the pedigree — the Glass Ceiling!
With KaGe properly planted into the mat, Vincent rolled him over and hooked the leg.
One!
Two!
Thre-NO! KaGe got his right shoulder off the mat in the nick of time. Vincent backed up a few paces and then drove his knee down into KaGe’s face. And then, revealing a bit of frustration, Vincent wrapped his hand around KaGe’s throat.
'One! Two! Three! Four!' the ref yelled, forcing Vincent to break the hold. For a moment anyhow. Vincent went right back into the blatant choke, taking it to the ref’s four count again. Vincent grabbed a handful of KaGe’s hair and slowly dragged him to his feet. Once there, Vincent hooked KaGe up, ready to hit a suplex. Instead of falling backward, Vincent dropped KaGe midsection first across the top rope.
Not done yet, Vincent grabbed hold of KaGe and hit a swinging neckbreaker, taking KaGe brutally down to the mat from the top rope. Vincent rolled through, grabbed both of KaGe’s arms and dragged him to dead center of the ring before making the cover.
One!
Two!
No! KaGe kicked out. The WWC Champion shook his head, surprised that the Television Champion was putting up such a fight. Vincent slapped KaGe in the face and then quickly dragged him up to his feet and hooked him in for a Minneapolis leg sweep.
Vincent held on. He rolled over and kept his grip on KaGe forcing him back to his feet. Vincent hit a SECOND consecutive Minneapolis leg sweep.
And TV held on yet again and rolled through, pulling up KaGe. He was about to try for a third consecutive Minneapolis leg sweep, but KaGe literally put his foot down. Vincent jerked backward, still in position to his the sweep, but KaGe didn’t budge. So Vincent quickly dropped his grip and found a new one around KaGe’s head.
SHOCKING CONCLUSION~!
The Stunner-like move hit full impact and KaGe bumped it beautifully, rolling heels over head onto his front side. Vincent crawled toward his foe on hands and knees and pulled him flat on his back and hooked the leg again, sure this one was over.
One.
Two.
Thre—it wasn’t over.
KaGe still had fight left in him, enough at least for the moment to get his left shoulder up and stop the referee’s count. Vincent put his fingers through his short, thick brown hair, sitting on his knees in disbelief as he watched KaGe struggling to get back up.
So Vincent helped him the rest of the way, dragging KaGe up to his feet, only to whip him into the ropes. Vincent leapt, ready to connect with a Lou Thesz press, but KaGe caught him! He did a quick pivot and tossed Vincent over his head with an overhead belly to belly suplex!
After a sick crashing impact on the mat, Vincent amazingly found himself back on his feet, but in some major hurt, almost as if he were paralyzed on his feet for an instant. An instant that KaGe took full advantage of by charging in and clotheslining Vincent to the mat.
KaGe was getting his second wind now. He looked around at the crowd urging him on and was ready to inflict some more damage and capture the WWC Title. KaGe lifted Vincent all the way to his feet and then lifted him into an inverted atomic drop. As Vincent stood in shock upon impact, KaGe slipped behind TV.
Reaching behind himself, KaGe grabbed hold of the upper arms of Trey Vincent and quickly lifted him up into crucifix position. Displaying an amazing amount of power, as Vincent is no cruiserweight, he powered him up and then sent Vincent crashing down into a crucifix-bomb!
KaGe wrapped his legs over Vincent’s arms and the ref made the count!
ONE!
TWO!
THRE-NO!!
Somehow, Vincent got an arm free and rolled free of the pin attempt. KaGe pushed himself to his feet and stomped Vincent in the skull a few times before pulling him up to his feet. But Vincent had one last trick up his sleeve, quickly jabbing a thumb into KaGe’s eye and lifting KaGe into a Cliffhanger — his version of the uranage slam.
Upon impact, Vincent held on, hoping the move had taken enough out of KaGe that he didn’t have to make the perfect pin.
One.
Two.
Vincent’s hopes weren’t realized as KaGe rolled his right shoulder off the mat. Both men, near exhaustion, struggled for several seconds, as the fans clapped and roared, trying to encourage KaGe to get up. Vincent was the first man to get to his feet, but only be a few seconds.
The fans suddenly began to boo as KaGe landed a hard punch right to Vincent’s jaw — a shot that made it look as though Vincent was almost out on his feet. So, he did the smart thing and punched him a second time, right in the side of the head.
KaGe backed up quickly, measuring up Vincent.
KaGe charged!
HANGING CORPSE CONNECTED! The fans popped loudly upon impact. KaGe had hit the move full force, just not on Trey Vincent. Instead, KaGe had connected with Sean Studd — armed with a black aluminum baseball bat — who had jumped into the ring behind Vincent as KaGe had taken off.
Studd lost his grip on the bat and was laid out. The referee stared down at Studd in shock, having not seen him until just now like the viewers. He went to check on Studd, keeping an eye on Vincent.
Vincent dove for the bat. The referee got right up and headed for Vincent, trying to prevent Vincent from using the weapon. He grabbed hold of the bat as KaGe got into position, his target locked on Vincent’s midsection, ready to take off the second the moment arrived.
*SMACK*
KaGe collapsed and the cheers turned to deafening levels of boos.
*SMACK*
EGO Greg Davis had hit the ring! It was nothing more than a numbers game — a misdirection play. Davis flashed a grin and quickly hopped to the floor, keeping his own bat in his hands. Then, Vincent let the referee win the struggle they’d been having over the bat.
But KaGe had taken the impact from Davis’ bat in the shoulder two times, and Davis had jammed it in there with all his might. Even though Davis couldn’t wrestle, he had just made a huge impact in WWC. Yet again fucking over the company and the fans with the rest of his crew.
Vincent went over to KaGe and violently pulled KaGe to his feet. Vincent lifted KaGe up with all his strength until he was over his head and quickly slid him down his back and cradled his head. The fans booed and pelted the ring with garbage as Vincent dropped KaGe down on his head.
Coming Down had connected.
Vincent leaned backward, reclining his arms out wide for the cover.
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
The bell sounded. Trey Vincent had successfully defended his title, but once again he had stooped to new levels to do it. If not for Sean Studd’s distraction and EGO Greg Davis using that bat, this main event match for the WWC World Title might have turned out much differently.
The referee handed Vincent his title and raised his arm in the air. Davis grabbed a can of beer from under the ring and headed over to Studd. He popped the top and lifted Studd’s head up and began pouring it down Studd’s throat.
Studd’s arm pumped once. Pumped again as the beer began to flow into his stomach and revive him. Then his arm stayed up in the air and he sat up — resuscitated by the mighty barley and hops. Vincent headed over and both he and Davis pulled Studd to his feet, even as cups of soda and balled up pieces of trash littered the ring from angry WWC fans.
Team EGO. Trey Vincent. Sean Studd. EGO Greg Davis. They stood united, their arms held high in the air in victory together. That should have been it. They should have taken the hint from the crowd that they were no longer wanted there. But Team EGO does exactly what it wants to do. And something evil was brewing in their minds right now. And the fans knew it when their attention turned toward KaGe.
Winner: Trey Vincent via pinfall; Trey Vincent retains the WWC World Championship
