Trey Vincent vs. Ricky Daniels (European Championship Match)
"EWS Sunday Night Bedlam"
Sept. 30, 2001
RD: Welcome back everyone! We're back, and it's time for our European Title Match.
RW: Trey Vincent is the man to beat lately! He's been tearing up the competition like a lawn mower running over kleenex. He's possibly the most dangerous man on the roster today.
RD: While his methods have been a bit unorthodox, it's managed to help him hold onto the European Title, as we saw last week.
RW: That rat bastard...errr...I mean...Damnit! He's a piece of crap if you ask me, I hope Ricky Daniels tears him a new one tonight!
RD: Interesting, usually you're the annoying heel commentator.
RW: Yeah, well, he wants to take blood and hardcore out of wrestling, and that's something I simply cannot fathom.
(The lights go out and the word "Hotshot" can be seen blinking on the screen. "Knock Yaself Out" by Jadakiss hits over the speakers and the fans begin to boo Striker to the top of their lungs. Shawn Striker walks out wearing a "Got Heel?" shirt and a pair of baggy pants. Fireworks explode beside him and Striker flicks off the crowd.)
RD: What the heck is he doing here?
RW: He's the rightful European Champion, and I think tonight he's going to get some revenge.
(Striker walks over to the ring announcer's table, picks up a chair, unfolds it, and sits down, facing the ring. Jessica then steps into the ring with a microphone and looks at Striker strangely.)
RD: I think Jessica's confused as to why Striker is even here.
RW: Well, that pretty much goes without saying.
("I HATE THIS!!!" blares on the p.a. system as a red strobe light flickers accross the building. Ricky Daniels steps out to the fans boos.)
Jessica: This Sports Entertainment Rules match is scheduled for one fall and is for the European Title. Introducing first, the challenger, from San Jose, California and weighing in at 235 pounds, Ricky Daniels!
(Ricky walks into the ring and gives his shades to the time keeper as he waits for Trey Vincent.)
RD: Here's a success story if there ever was one. All he had to do to get this match was trip the champion, and it was scheduled for him! How convenient is that?
RW: Ricky Daniels did not trip Trey! He merely was walking along and Trey happened to have the bad luck of running over Ricky's leg!
("All Hail The New Flesh," by Strapping Young Lad kicks in. After a series of rapid fire explosions, Trey emerges from the back with his referee and walks quickly to the ring.)
Jessica: His opponent, from Minneapolis, Minnesota, he weighs in at 260 pounds and is the European Champion, Trey Vincent!
(Trey slides into the ring and kicks out the EWS referee, replacing him with his own. Trey suspiciously stares at Striker for a moment, then turns his attention back to Daniels.)
RW: Make no estimations about Ricky Daniels, because he easily will soar past each and every single one of them. He's got the confidence and the ability to take down Trey Vincent.
(The bell rings and Daniels goes for a collar and elbow tie up with Vincent, but instead is met with a knee to the gut. Trey gives Daniels a double axe-handle to the right shoulder, then another, knocking Daniels down to his knees. Vincent gives Daniels a knee to the face, knocking him down onto his back. Vincent approaches Daniels, but is met with a leg sweep from Daniels, knocking him off his feet.)
RD: Daniels might be new to EWS, but rest assured, he's a veteran in many senses of the word.
(Daniels gets Vincent to his feet, then whips Vincent off the ropes, meeting Vincent with a clothesline, knocking him to the ground. Daniels drops an elbow onto Vincent, then another. Daniels goes off the ropes and attempts a leg drop, but Vincent moves out of the way, causing Daniels to hit nothing. Vincent gets up quickly and nails a stiff kick to Daniels' right shoulder, causing Daniels to writhe in pain. Vincent then goes off the ropes, and hits a standing dropkick right to Daniels' chin, knocking him flat to the matt. Vincent goes for the cover 1...No! Daniels kicks out at 1.)
RW: Vincent needs to keep up that offense on Daniels' right arm and shoulder if he wants to win this match.
RD: Vincent is known for his devastating Fujiwara Armbar, Daniels had better be wary.
(Vincent gets up and goes over to Daniels' right side, then grabs Daniels' right arm and slaps on a cross-arm breaker. Daniels immediately shoots his left arm out to the ropes and grabs the bottom one, causing the ref to make Vincent break the hold. Vincent gets to his feet, then gets Daniels to his feet as well. Vincent grabs Daniels' right arm and twists it 180 degrees. Vincent then shakes Daniels' arm once, knocking Daniels to one knee. Vincent does it again, causing Daniels to clutch his shoulder in agony. Daniels then punches Vincent in the face, causing him to break the hold. Daniels then gets paralell with Vincent and hits a Russian Leg Sweep. Daniels then goes for the cover. 1...2...No! Vincent kicks out after 2.)
RD: Close one for Vincent there!
RW: Daniels might have some fight in him, but he NEEDS to keep his right arm away from Trey!
(Daniels gets up and stomps at Vincent's head. Daniels then grabs Vincent, gets him to his feet, then wraps an arm around Vincent's neck and hits a snap suplex. Daniels clutches his right arm in agony as Vincent grabs his head and groans. The ref starts to count as both men struggle to their feet. Daniels gets to one knee, then gets to his feet as Trey starts to get up. Daniels moves back a bit and sizes up Vincent, waiting for the right opportunity. The ref goes to Vincent as he gets up and makes a subtle signal to Vincent, then backs away. Vincent gets up and turns around and Daniels attempts a superkick on Vincent, but Vincent ducks at the last second. Vincent then capitalizes and locks on a crossface chicken wing, focusing everything on Daniels' right arm. Daniels stomps on Vincent's foot, causing Vincent to break the hold. Daniels comes off the ropes and goes for a clothesline, but is met again with a crossface chicken wing.)
RW: Oh Lord, REST HOLDS! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!
RD: The bane of every hardcore wrestling fans' existence!
(Vincent then moves from the chicken wing to a sleeper hold, causing the EWS fans to boo vehemently. Vincent gets Daniels down to his knees and then puts on a rear chinlock as the fans begin to chant "Boring! Boring!" The camera pans to Striker, who is seen chanting along with the fans. Vincent gets angry, then lets go of Daniels, then goes down to ringside and grabs a microphone.)
Vincent: You sick pigs! You can't appreciate real wrestling, can you?
(The fans boo Vincent, causing Vincent to get angry.)
RW: It seems Vincent's had one too many shots to the head...
Vincent: Go ahead, boo me, I'm saving you people from hardcore trash! I'm...
(Vincent is cut off by Ricky Daniels, who hits a plancha right onto Vincent. The crowd wildly cheers Daniels when he does this, causing Daniels to take a bow. Daniels then rolls Vincent back into the ring and follows him.)
RD: Thank God Daniels shut him up!
(Daniels gets Vincent to his feet and goes behind him with a waistlock. Daniels then gives Vincent a German suplex, releasing Vincent, who clutches his head in agony. Daniels then goes behind Vincent once more and hits a quick Reverse DDT and covers him 1...2...No! Vincent kicks out just before 2!)
RW: C'mon Daniels! Finish him off and end the misery that is Sports Entertainment Title Matches!
(Daniels gets up and signals for the DVD, causing the crowd to cheer and rise expectantly to their feet. Vincent slowly gets up, then turns around and it hoisted onto the shoulders of Ricky Daniels. Daniels then drives Vincent right into the canvas with a devastating DVD! Daniels makes the cover 1...2... The ref stops the count and clutches his left eye, causing the fans to REALLY boo. The ref rolls out of the ring, holding his eye with a panged expression on his face. Daniels gets up and looks for the ref. The ref then goes near the announce table and grabs a chair. The ref rolls into the ring, then blasts Daniels with the chair! The ref then calls for the bell, ending the match.)
RD: WHAT THE HELL!?!?!?!?
Jessica: Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of this match, as a result of a disqualification, Ricky Daniels! But still European Champion, Trey Vincent!
(The fans start to litter the ring with garbage as the referee helps Vincent to his feet. Striker gets up off of his chair, folds it quickly, and takes it with him, sliding into the ring. Striker gets up and immediately smacks the ref with the chair, knocking the ref out cold and getting a huge response from the fans. Daniels gets to his feet and sees Striker in the ring with the chair and begins to back away, but Striker turns to Vincent and slams Vincent right over the head with the chair, getting an even bigger reaction from the crowd.)
RW: GO STRIKER, GOOOOOO!!!
(Striker then drops the chair to the ground and gets Vincent to his feet. Striker climbs to the top turnbuckle quickly, then turns around and gives Vincent a Parental Advisory onto the chair. Striker taunts Vincent for a moment, then turns around and glares at Daniels for a brief second. Striker then exits the ring and heads to the back.)
RW: Something tells me that this feud is very far from over!
RD: We haven't seen the last of any of these men, that's a certainty!
Final thoughts on the Extreme Wrestling Scene
The ending I had suggested for this match: Ricky has Trey down and out after hitting his finisher. Johnny McShane makes a slow 2-count. Then? The lights go out. For about 30 seconds. When the lights come back on, Trey is outside the ring, covered in blood, as if he dumped a bucket of blood on himself. The ref sees Trey and stops the match for excessive blood loss! Would have been great. But the end was OK they came up with. Didn't like Striker being there and getting punked out so bad. Whatever. You do what the bookers say, right?
On the next "Bedlam" I planned to have Trey come down to ringside during a Ricky Daniels vs. Shawn Striker match and force them to fight in sports entertainment rules with my ref Johnny McShane. When either guy would go for a cover, my ref just wouldn't count, and if either guy went up to him, he would threaten a dq and they would lost a shot at my title. Eventually, I would get involved and hit Ricky Daniels with the chair as payback. Then as Striker thought I was helping him, I'd cream him too. Then whoever had the energy left could win the thing. I was hoping to set up a sports entertainment cage match (the cage with the big black bars instead of the fence) either as a triple threat or fatal four way with whoever could escape first being the winner. I had envisioned Trey vs. Prototype vs. Daniels vs. Striker.
Instead, the fed closed.
I have but one regret. A man by the name of Steve Studnuts. I wish I had gotten to sports entertain with him. He provided some the most entertaining promos I've ever seen. He was probably going to win the World Title at the PPV. Maybe some day.
Bottom line: The Extreme Wrestling Scene was fun, but there was a lot of garbage on the roster. It was a jobber fed for the most part. Matches varied from horrible to good. I really didn't read much there at the end unless I was fighting someone or Studs or world champ Korruption were talking. My only other complaint? Someone got confused thinking sports entertainment meant rest holds and boring wrestling. Sorry. No way. The next fed I hope will get it right. But it worked for here even though it wasn't what I envisioned. Anti-hardcore works in hardcore feds. Even the heel announcer hated me!
So, goodbye EWS. Not even the Franchise Player could save it.
