The Three, Part Two
"So, you're still up?"
"I am now," Chelsea said, inviting Sharc into her apartment. "But why are you here?"
"How's Barbara?" Sharc asked, referring to her daughter. He and Chelsea's baby.
"She's fine," Chelsea said as she walked into the kitchen, looking back at Sharc, a bit concerned.
Sharc ran his fingers through his hair, quite a few times, and then took a seat on the couch. She had been watching an episode of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer." Sharc wouldn't have known that though, he wasn't into television. He watched as some blond English dude talked to himself until Chelsea sat down beside him and offered him a glass of milk, which he took and guzzled down in a matter of seconds.
"I haven't seen you in a while. Where have you been?"
"Doesn't matter, does it? Can't I just stop by and see my daughter?"
"Next time, try coming when she's actually still awake."
Ah yes, there was Chelsea. She was his first everything. They had met one night while he was working for Tidal Wave Wrestling. The first unsuccessful incarnation of that federation. They met at a bar, clicked, and were together for quite a while after that. She got pregnant in December 2000 and, in August 2001, Barbara was born.
Around that time, he absolutely despised her as well. He thought her to be a waste of flesh. He was embarrassed that she was going to be the mother of his child.
Once he met Lisa, though, he appreciated Chelsea a bit more. And he found a bit of something inside of himself for her, even if he could never stand to be in a relationship with her. She had become a self-centered, worthless piece of flesh.
But after a long time of being told that very fact, she tried to change. And being a mother changed her too. But there was no chance for them to be happy together. He didn't believe in doing things for a child. Everyone's life has misery. This would be Barbara's. But her misery would be worse if her parents lived together, Sharc was sure of that.
"I was sorry to hear TWW closed again so soon," Chelsea said after a long period of silence between them.
"I have the worthless TWW Title back at my house. Doesn't matter. At least I can still call myself a champion. I'll be a champion no matter where I go."
"So, where are you going to go?"
"Can I go see my girl?"
"Sure."
Sharc headed to his daughter's room and quietly opened the door. Chelsea followed right behind him. Sharc looked down at his sleeping girl and was silent, just looking at her.
"I'm heading to Action Wrestling. Don't worry. I'll make sure you two have money. I know it's been a little tight lately." That was when Sharc pulled out a wad of bills from his black jeans. "Here," he said giving the money to Chelsea.
"It's been OK. I understand. I've been working so we've been OK."
Sharc nodded and then quietly exited the room, leaving Chelsea to shut the door. Sharc went right for the door.
"That's it?" she asked.
Sharc paused with his hand on the knob. He didn't look back before opening the door and slamming it shut behind himself.
And he was off again.
