Somebody is Going to Mass. General
Till Death Do Us Part
June 29, 2003
Starring: Sharc, Bait
Writer: John Leary
Sharc's locker room. He wasn't wearing his wrestling gear. He was in a hooded sweatshirt and jeans, pacing back and forth, as his valet and girlfriend, Bait, looked on, biting her fingernails. He stopped then and took a seat on the floor.
"You know, Bait, tonight, I'm home in Boston." Cheap pop, worked. "And I was outside tonight, I took a look down Causeway Street, at all the people, and eventually at the Fleet, that was probably the easiest part of my day. Yeah, I'm home.
"But once I stepped in this arena, the only thing on my mind has been this knife fight. The fact that I'll be fighting Fiend with no rules of any kind, outside the arena, with the goal of stabbing another man. And I couldn't help but smile. Because for the last three weeks, he has taken down my friends.
"First, Thief. Fiend beat him. He could have left it there. But no. He had to take a knife to him. Even though Thief never saw him, I know it was Fiend. One week later, I found the second victim, Lowlife, in the same condition. He told me Fiend stabbed him. No witnesses. Just two men. One man's word against the other. Useless.
"Then Diamondback. The man who trained man. The man who taught me, pretty much everything. How to make the crowd yours or your enemy. How to put on entertaining matches. Diamondback IS this business, just as the business is in ME. He might as well have destroyed my family. He's the only thing close to family I have.
"You know why I sent my friends after Fiend? They wanted to go. I couldn't stop them from fighting a bear if I tried. That's just the hardheaded way they are. They're hardcore. You piss them off, they fight. You cross them, you fight. They may not win, but they're gonna kick your ass and make you bleed.
"My brothers are all wounded at the hands of Fiend. Punishment is coming for him. Tonight. I'm gonna stab him and destroy him. I will not be stabbed in my hometown. Vengeance will rain down on fiend tonight and he will not get one stab wound. No. He's going to get one for every brother of mine who has fallen. Win, lose or die, I will destroy Fiend, tonight!"
Nice pop from he crowd, surprising though, considering what he actually just said. Must be some Asylum fans in the crowd.
"Be careful," Bait pleaded. "I want you to come back from this match."
Sharc paused for a moment, not knowing what to say. "I'll try."
