The King of Submission wasn't in an overly depressed mood as he and his wife walked through the hallways of the Providence Civic Center, heading for the cafeteria, where Action! had set-up their cartering. Made sense. Max was actually a little chipper thanks to his meeting with Coral Avalon and Allison Lindum. He had found it fun to make... fun of them.
"You did apologize, right Xand?" Jessica had asked as they walked hand-in-hand. She had wanted her husband to say he was sorry for the way he had treated them the week previous.
Danger nodded, "Oh, of course I did."
Liar.
"But," he continued. "They didn't exactly accept it. They were very rude to me, Jess. Shrug. Oh well. No big."
She seemed slightly saddened by that bit of news. She had hoped that Coral and Allison would have welcomed an apology and even wanted to repair the tension between them all. Guess she didn't know the couple much at all.
The two rounded a corner. Sharc was coming around the corner, not really paying attention. Jessica twisted her body to avoid him, but couldn't, smacking her shoulder into his and stumbled. Her husband wrapped his arms around her waist to keep her from falling. After a quick, "Are you alright?" and her reassurance that she was, Max shouted to Sharc,
"You could watch where you're going!"
Sharc spun around in an instant and walked back up to the couple, focusing on the Danger Man. He looked menacing. Like he wanted to rip Danger's head off. He stood in front of his wife, protecting her. An evil smile crept onto Sharc's face as he said, "I'm sorry."
Max knew a fake apology, and that, sir, was a fake apology. Sharc didn't let Max get a word in though. He continued, "I heard about your dear mother, Max." He shook his head as Max started to grow angry. "And I just wanted to let you know that... well, I so... don't... care."
Danger hardened his voice and his gaze on the man who stood in front of him. Between clenched teeth he said, "You had best change the subject now!"
"Oh, easy, Max. I don't want you to go and hurt me or anything." He looked so not scared. He rolled his eyes at the very possibility of Max doing anything. "I don't see what all the fuss is about, Danger. She's probably all in a better place now anyway, right? So you should be happy for the broad. She's lucky, 'cause life sucks, and now she doesn't have to live through it. Personally, I'd be rejoicing."
Max's fists clenched. Oh, he was going to punch the absolute FUCK out of Sharc.
But Sharc didn't seem the notice the building rage inside the Carnage Champion. Either that or he just didn't care. Probably the latter. "Oh, calm down, Max." Okay, guess he did notice. "What, were you looking for a shoulder to lean on? Another person to fall in line and feel sorry for your loss? Tough shit, my boy. 'Cause the world doesn't revolve around Max Danger. Some people just simply do not care. So be happy. It's one less person you have to worry about."
"Shut the fuck up!" Danger screamed. Jessica was trying to hold him back, pulling on his shoulders, but it wasn't doing any good. "Stop speaking on things you don't know anything about!"
Sharc scoffed, "I suppose you're right. I guess the only thing I know about is hardcore matches."
Oh, Sharc so had an agenda. Max shouted, "Do ya? Well that's just spiffy, 'cause I happen to be the Carnage Champion!"
"Oh, really? I had no idea," Sharc responded, trying to act as if that wasn't his intention the entire time.
"You and me are going to have ourselves a confrontation in the ring, Sharc. And I'm going to show you that you don't know shit about hardcore wrestling, either!"
"Yeah? Well, good luck with that," Sharc replied. "I'll see you in the ring."
As Sharc left to go away, Danger grabbed his forearm, stopping him and turning him back around. Very lowly and harshly, Max said, "I'm going to take you to a whole new level of pain, and then you'll be begging me to stop."
Sharc answered, his voice low and full of hatred as well, "You have no clue what you're getting yourself into." His eyes flared with malice as he lightly slapped Max on the cheek.
And then he departed. Max watched as he went, breathing heavily. Oh he was pissed off. Jessica was behind him, looking a bit worried. Danger turned around and one look into her eyes caused him to deflate. Release the hatred. They embraced.
